Canada Super Visa
Everyone Deserves To Be Reconnected With Their Family
Learn More About The Parent & Grandparent Super Visa
This type of Super Visa offered by the Canadian government allows parents and grandparents to visit their children or grandchildren for up to two years at a time. It acts as a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period of up to 10 years.
Requirements/Eligibility For Super Visas
If you want to temporarily visit your children or grandchildren in Canada for an extended period of time (two years at a time for up to 10 years), you’ll need a super visa. This is different from a visitor visa which only allows you to stay for up to six months at a time. After which, you’d need to extend your visa. A super visa is also only available to parents and grandparents.
Be A Parent/Grandparent of Canadian Citizens
The child or grandchild you’re visiting must be a resident of Canada and should have signed a letter inviting you to Canada that states the necessary information about them, and yourself. You’ll also need to show a copy of their permanent residency or Canadian citizenship, as well as outline the number of people in the household.
Apply Outside of Canada
When you apply for a super visa, it should be done prior to entering Canada (in your home country). You must also not be considered “inadmissible to Canada” under Canada’s immigration law. There are certain reasons you may not be allowed into Canada including medical or criminal reasons.
Have Financial Support
You must provide proof that the household you’re visiting meets the minimum requirements. The minimum requirements will vary depending on how many people are in the household. You can provide proof of their funds with a T4 slip of the recent year, a letter from their employer, pay stubs, or bank statements.
Took An Immigration Medical Exam
Any visitor who is planning on staying for more than six months must undergo a medical exam and provide proof of medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is valid for one year and has at least $100,000 coverage. You must also provide proof that you’d paid for it. Your own doctor cannot do the exam. You must visit a doctor in your country that is on a list of panel physicians approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Other Conditions
Immigration officers will also look at other things before deciding whether or not you can come to Canada. For example, the ties to your home country, why you’re visiting Canadian citizens, what your family’s finances are like, and the economic and political stability of your country. After you’ve applied for a super visa to Canada, most applications are processed within a few weeks or less, so don’t apply for it right before you intend on visiting Canada. In order to make the processing time quicker, make sure you have submitted all the documents and have completed the application correctly.
This Does Not Provide Permanent Residency To Canada
Super visas provide temporary residence. If you plan on visiting Canada for longer than the allowed time frame or if you plan on permanently living with your children or grandchildren, you need to submit a sponsorship application instead. If you want to extend your stay, you can also apply for a visitor record which will have a new expiry date. Again, this is different from a visitor visa.

No, the intention of express entry is to grant skilled immigrants with permanent residency in Canada. You will enjoy many of the same benefits as citizens, such as health care and the ability to work and live in any province of the country, but you don’t have the right to vote or run for office. Citizenship can be obtained after residents have been in Canada for a period of five years.
With Express Entry, Canada seeks to invite qualified, skilled immigrants who want to become permanent residents. This is a way to fill employment sectors where no Canadian workers are available. However, this doesn’t apply to every person and is just one way to obtain permanent residency. Many individuals who come here as students or temporary workers are able to stay after going through a formal application process.
