Self-employed Persons Program

This program is designed for those who have experience in cultural activities of athletics and are willing to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.

The Self-Employed Person program allows people to permanently immigrate to Canada as a self-employed person if you have experience in cultural activities or athletics.

“Relevant” experience means at least two years of experience during the 5 years before the day you apply. Applicants will be assessed based on experience, education, age, language abilities and adaptability.

You will be assessed on your experience on:

  • education
  • age
  • language abilities
  • adaptability

Just like other programs, this is a program based on a point system that assigns points to each category. The maximum possible score is 100 points, however, the minimum you may receive is 35 points.

Age 25 points
Education 35 points
Ability in English and/or French 10 points
Experience 24 points
Adaptability 6 points
