Express Entry

Express Entry is an online system used by the Government of Canada to manage applications for permanent residence for skilled workers, skilled trades, and candidates with Canadian experience.

If you meet the criteria, you can create a profile known as an Expression of Interest (EOI). Your age, education, work experience, and language ability will be scored on the comprehensive ranking system. This system is used to assess and rank your profile.

How does the comprehensive classification system work?

Candidates are awarded points based on their profile information, including their skills and experience, and those with the highest ranking will be invited to apply for Permanent Resident status through invitation rounds held every two weeks.

The points you get from the CRS include a base set of points up to 600 and a set of bonus points up to 600. Your total score will be 1200. Base points + bonus points = your total score

Core: up to 600 points

• Language skills and experience factors
• Spouse or common-law partner factors, such as their language skills and education
• Transferability of skills, including education and work experience

Additional: up to 600 points

• Canadian degrees, diplomas or certificates
• A valid job offer
• A nomination from a province or territory
• A sibling who lives in Canada and is a citizen or permanent resident

What happens after an applicant is invited to apply?

Once someone is invited to apply, we have 60 days to submit the application for Permanent Residence.

An officer will evaluate the profile and confirm that all information provided during profile creation is supported by the submitted documentation. If the officer finds that the applicant has submitted false, misleading, or incorrect information, the response may include:

• Reject the request
• Find them inadmissible
• Ban them for 5 years from applying to come to Canada for any reason
